  • BIOGRAPHY

    R. Scott Fahrney serves as one of the founding Members of the Firm, and the Chair of the Litigation Department for Semeraro & Fahrney. Scott has extensive experience in both Plaintiff and Defense Litigation, public entity litigation, insurance defense and self-insured defense litigation, commercial litigation, land use litigation, civil litigation, election law and employment and labor law. Mr. Fahrney also has extensive experience in Personal Injury law, where he has secured over $15 million dollars in personal injury settlements on behalf of his clients.

     

    With over 15 years of practice, Scott has become known as a versatile litigator, skilled negotiator and trusted counselor. Scott’s clients value his approachable manner and dedication to their success both inside and outside the courtroom. Scott practices before the state, federal and appellate courts of New Jersey, as well as in a variety of commercial arbitration, regulatory and administrative venues.

  • Experience

    Mr. Fahrney graduated cum laude from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois, in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in political science, where he also served as a member of the Fighting Saints golf team, a resident advisor, and member of the Young Lawyer’s Club. Scott subsequently attended Valparaiso University School of Law in Valparaiso, Indiana, where he graduated with a Juris Doctorate in 2008, and studied comparative law at Cambridge in the United Kingdom.  

    Following his initial experience at various boutique law firms in North Jersey, Scott joined Mark Semeraro as an Associate at the Law Firm of Kaufman Semeraro and Leibman, where he and Mark successfully represented both public and private entity clients in public entity litigation, insurance defense and self-insured defense litigation, commercial litigation, land use litigation, civil litigation, election law and employment and labor law. 

    Scott Fahrney has more than 15 years’ experience litigating all aspects of civil litigation on both sides of the bar, including, Plaintiff’s personal injury, insurance defense, premises liability, commercial auto, self-insured and public entity defense, professional liability, public liability, product liability, construction defects, employment discrimination and commercial litigation matters.

  • Professional Associations

    During his 15+ years of professional practice, Scott is a member of the New Jersey Bar Association, the Bergen County Bar Association, and sits as the Co-Chair of the Bergen County Bar Association Golf Outing and Fundraising Committee. Scott is admitted to practice before the courts of the State of New Jersey (2008), the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey (2008), and the United States 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals (2019).  Scott is also a graduate and member of the Pashman Stein American Inns of Court.
